UPCOMING

Zabriel Rivers embarks on a remarkable 2025–2026 season that highlights his growing prominence as one of the foremost countertenors of his generation. Known for his "silvery timbre" and "extraordinary expressiveness," Rivers continues to captivate audiences across a broad spectrum of classical music, opera, and chamber music.

This season, Rivers takes on debut roles in baroque operas, including Handel’s Giulio Cesare and Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea, where he will showcase his remarkable command of both early music and dramatic vocal artistry. He will collaborate with distinguished orchestras and chamber ensembles in programs spanning from the baroque to contemporary music. Highlights of these performances include works by Bach, Vivaldi, and Pergolesi, alongside new commissions that continue to push the boundaries of the countertenor repertoire. His voice, praised for its technical brilliance and expressive range, is equally at home in intimate chamber settings as it is in grand concert halls.

A defining feature of the season is the continued evolution of A Gullah Evening with Zabriel, an inspirational cultural tribute that intertwines Gullah-Geechee language, traditional spirituals, and classical music. This program, which has captivated audiences at prestigious festivals, universities, and major venues, continues to grow in scope and reach. Rivers’ unique ability to seamlessly merge cultural heritage with classical tradition creates an experience that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.

Throughout the 2025–2026 season, Rivers will appear in a series of distinguished engagements at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and the Perelman Performing Arts Center. As a vocal artist, advocate for cultural preservation, and educator, he continues to redefine the role of the countertenor in both baroque opera and early music, offering performances that bridge the past and present while celebrating a rich musical heritage.
